Throughout his seventy years, he wrote plays, poems, novels, and travel guides, but he is most remembered for his fairy tales. With them, he created a new style of literature. Andersen wrote about feelings we all have from childhood to old agehope, love, longing, sorrow, loss, and joyand today, nearly two centuries after they were written, those stories remain fresh and new. Pirkko Vainio was born in Finland and studied at the Academy of Art in Helsinki. She now lives in Italy, where she works as an illustrator and a graphic designer.
