Kim Gamble is one of Australia's most well-known and well-loved award-winning illustrators for children. He constantly visits schools and has a very large fan base of children who love all his books. Most recently his illustrations for the Tashi series have meant he has a constant presence on school, home and library shelves around the country.

Ferg McKinnon, is married to Anne and has two daughters and two grand-daughters. Living near the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, there is always plenty of wonderful outdoorsy things to see and do with his grandkids, such as collecting insects in jars to study, swinging from the branches of the old gum trees and playing basketball. Ferg studied geography, demography, economics, economic statistics, Russian and Russian literature at Monash University in Melbourne as well as a Diploma of Education. He played bass guitar in the 70s rock band 'Rainbow Theatre' which produced two albums, 'The Armada' and 'A Fantasy of Horses'. During this time he taught matriculation geography and worked as a freelance journalist and music critic for the Nation Review. He has worked since as a cricket umpire, courier, gardener and cleaner, and for the past fifteen years as an in-depth interviewer in medical, industrial, commercial and consumer market research. He now runs his own garden maintenance business. His first book, A QUESTION OF IDENTITY, published in 1993, was about the search for his natural mother. A BEE IN BEN'S BONNET is his first children's book and is dedicated to the loss of his grandson.
