The illustrations of original characters in The Magic Rainforest were made into a series of stamps for Australia Post.

In 2003 Donna Rawlins won The Lady Cutler Award for services to children's literature. She has been an illustrator, author, editor, designer and book packager. Her books have been published widely overseas, and her work is noted for its non-stereotypical cultural depiction of children in today's schools.
